Never drink store-bought eggnog again with this delicious, homemade recipe!
4 cups Milk
5 whole Cloves
2 1/2 tsp Vanilla Extract
1 tsp Ground Cinnamon
12 Egg Yolks
1 1/2 cups Sugar
2 1/2 cups Light Rum (or to your liking)
4 cups Light Cream
1/2 tsp Ground Nutmeg
- On a low setting, heat the milk, cloves, cinnamon, and 1/2 tsp of vanilla extract in a saucepan for 5 minutes. Next, combine the egg yolks and sugar in a large bowl, whisking until fluffy. Take the warm milk mixture and slowly combine with eggs, gently mixing together.
- Next, cook the combined mixture over medium heat. Stir the mixture constantly for 3 minutes or until the consistency has become thick, but do not let the mixture come to a boil. Remove the cloves with a strainer and set the mixture aside to cool for about an hour.
- Once cooled, add the rum, cream, nutmeg, and remaining vanilla extract. Stir and place in the refrigerator overnight before serving. Lastly… enjoy your delicious eggnog with loved ones!
