Having a whole home electrical check is more important than you may think. Hi, I’m Miriam Johnson, co-host of the tv series Hometime. Whilst wiring in your home is hidden behind walls, in attics, and in crawl spaces, it’s nearly impossible to know what condition your electrical system is in.

A professional electrician can give you peace of mind knowing that your electrical system is safe for you and your family. The Electrical Safety Foundation recommends that you have an electrical check if your home is 40 years or older, was previously owned home, your home is undergone major renovations, or you’ve added new appliances in the last 10 years. Even if your home was built just 20 years ago, there’s a good chance it may not be up to code with all the latest electrical safety features, like grounded outlets, and ground fault circuit interrupters or GFCIs. There are things you can do to make sure your electrical system is safe the biggest rule is don’t ignore the obvious. Flickering or dimming lights, warm smoking or buzzing outlets or switches, and tripping circuits are all signs of very serious electrical issues that need immediate attention. A healthy respect for electricity and basic knowledge of electrical safety can help your home and family safe from electrical problems all year long. If you’d like more information about an electrical check for your home, give us a call. We’ll be happy to help!
